EN: In 1917, Jindrich Marek opened the Jirina mine in Libovice, which was already electrified in 1924 and was subsequently connected to the electricity network and the Jindrich mine in Jedomelice. Already in 1930, Jindrich Marek considered the project of a power plant that would use the coal substance on site, but it was left to consider.

From June 1, 1941, a new pit was excavated in Libovice, which was named Jirina 2, it was 60 m deep. The Jirina 1 pit was stopped in 1944. Mining at the Jindrich mine was terminated in 1945 and the pit was closed down in about 1951.

After 1948, the Jirina 2 mine was the only mine to mine the Kounov seam in the Slaný area. In 1953, the Lotouš mine (Jirina 3) began to be excavated as an auxiliary mine for the Jirina 2 mine in Libovice; it was deepened in 1963 (the reason for mining was the high content of germanium in coal). However, in three years it was closed together with the Jirina 2 mine for unprofitable operation. This definitely ended the era of small mines in Slánsko.

The remnants of the Jirina 2 mine are several buildings and a heap of excavated tailings east of the complex (currently a private company is located here).
