This is the subtle landscape art of visual artist Margriet Kemper, who gave the work the title 'Sharing the time'. At the request of the municipality of Heusden, she created a memorial. In a fortified town with so many centuries of past, there is much to remember. The thoughts of our contemporaries usually go to the battles and bombings in November 1944, in which many civilians were killed and the historic fortified city was badly damaged.
The hourglass rising lonely on a defensive stronghold invites you to approach silently. And then you see a word. On each of the four sides of the pedestal is a word engraved in Belgian bluestone: 'forever - consists - of - presents' (NL: 'voorgoed - bestaat - uit - hedens’.)
