Eye Filmmuseum is a center in Amsterdam dedicated to cinematography. The building is located opposite Central Station, on the north bank of the IJ, in the Overhoeks district (Amsterdam North). The building was designed by Austrian architects Roman Delugan and Elke Delugan-Meissl and opened in early 2012.
Eye has four cinemas and an exhibition hall of 1,200 m². There is room for educational activities, a film lab, a shop and a café-restaurant with a terrace. Eye participates in the Cineville partnership.
The objective of Eye is to preserve the film heritage for future generations, both Dutch films and foreign films that have been screened in the Netherlands. The museum aims to promote a lively film culture in the Netherlands.
There are regular themed programs in which film history and contemporary cinematographic developments are discussed. The museum also organizes annual festivals, theatrical family performances and retrospectives. It acts as a distributor of classic films.
The name of the institute is a play on words on the shape of the building, which from a certain angle is reminiscent of an eye, the eye with which one takes in sight (in English eye) and the way in which English speakers pronounce the Dutch IJ.

Eye Filmmuseum is een centrum in Amsterdam gewijd aan de cinematografie. Het gebouw staat tegenover het Centraal Station, aan de noordoever van het IJ, in de wijk Overhoeks (Amsterdam-Noord). Regelmatig zijn er themaprogramma's waarin de filmgeschiedenis en hedendaagse cinematografische ontwikkelingen aan bod komen. Ook organiseert het museum jaarlijks festivals, theatrale familievoorstellingen en retrospectieven. Het treedt op als distributeur van klassieker films.
De naam van het instituut is een woordspeling op de vorm van het gebouw dat vanuit een bepaalde hoek aan een oog doet denken, het oog waarmee men zicht tot zich neemt (in het Engels eye) en de manier waarop Engelstaligen de Nederlandse IJ uitspreken.
