The village of Wachendorf belongs to the town of Lingen and is managed by the town as part of the Altenlingen district. The village is located about five kilometers northwest of the city of Lingen in the Emstal landscape conservation area on the Ems River.

The monument can be reached by stairs.
Above is a wooden cross with a large boulder underneath.
The boulder features a German Cross in light blue with the text:
"World wars
1914 - 1918 1939 - 1945
To our dear fallen sons.
Do not forget them
Community Wachendorf"
Around it are more boulders with the names of the fallen and missing.
