The school is hidden behind a dense row of spruce trees, just behind which stands this bell, mounted on its concrete plinth. The bell is a Number 24, in a Number 24 yoke, Made by the C.S. Bell Company of Hillsboro, Ohio.
We can only assume that this was the original school bell and was salvaged when the old wood frame school was caused to fall down, either by incendiary or mechanical means, either by accident or intention.
Rudimentary is the best word for the plinth supporting this bell. It's a simple cube of concrete with the date - 1961 - embossed into the concrete and painted yellow. We assume that 1961 was the year of construction of this school, hence the year of mounting of the bell.
