Mines House is a Burnett Type E design, with four bedrooms, and is elevated and timber framed with asbestos cement cladding. Like most elevated dwelling in Australia's north the ground floor is used as a cover for vehicles. Built in 1939, it was first occupied by the Director of Mines.
