In this old primary school located in Alandroal, a small and charming town in southern Portugal, there were separated entrances by gender to the students.
The separated teaching - even in high school - was the common practice in Portugal until the mid 60's. In some cases the historical remnants of the practice were not removed. This kind of primary schools in not common in Portugal, but there are a few with this layout and separated entrances.
