Like the Middleburg Baptist Church that was built during the same era, The church was designed in the style of a federal-style building and had separate front doors for men and women. Though there are no signs above the doors, a nearby sign of history mentions the history of the church and this is an excerpt from that sign:
"Men and women entered the church through separate front doors. Women sat on the right side and men on the left. At a time when racial segregation was the norm, slave and free black members of the congregation entered through separate side doors and worshipped in the balcony."
