The original depot here was a wood-frame building; it was replaced by this fine red-brick depot in 1902. "Teddy" Roosevelt stopped here in 1903 as part of his "Whistle Stop" campaign. The depot served passengers and freight until 1954. Having fallen into disuse and disrepair, the city took over ownership in 1990 and soon completed a restoration of the depot.
