A quote from Docking's Vicar, Peter Cook, in 'yourlocalpaper' 20th September, 2019:
..."if you look around the church it won’t take you long to see plaques in memory of members of the local Hare family who have played such an important part in the life of both the church and our village for over 400 years.”
...and another in The Eastern Daily Press, 23rd September, 2015
'It was the Hares who drummed up funds and support for the foundation of our village school and the Hares who organised the extensions at the church in the 1870s.
'As a result they are remembered fondly around the village.
'Our cub pack and scout troop are also known as 'Hare's Own'.
'The weather vane over the school is in the shape of a hare and on the wall of the library there is a great hare-shaped plaque put up in 2012.'
