At the town of Forks in Tillicum Park is a military vehicle display. The display honors the memory of Vernon E. Depew, Lcpl, 3rd Bn, 9th Marines Vietnam. The memorial also remembers several fallen soldiers, Pfc Norman E Lodholm, Cpl Douglas G Foster and SSgt Don R Kraft. The M56 Scorpion is not a armored vehicle. It is a lightweight self propelled 90mm gun designed to be air transportable to support Airborne and light infantry forces. Was intended to provide protection against enemy tanks. Was used briefly by the US military and by the countries of Spain and Morocco. Had a short service life and is little known today.
