Dildo is a village and port in south Trinity Bay, Newfoundland. The Bill Pretty Memorial Playground is a fun and scenic spot in Dildo Cove, not far from the fishing port. After a recent design contest, the community finally has its own flag.
Addison Stead provides a description of Addison's winning flag design. "An anchor symbolizes security and strength but for this flag it symbolizes that if you were to move away, Dildo will always be your home. The colours used for my flag entry are the same as the Newfoundland flag colours. The codfish represents our community's history in the cod fishery and also the importance of the cod hatchery on Dildo Island. The dory is a small traditional Newfoundland fishing boat that is still being used in Dildo."
