" The Kiwanis Club of Altoona is celebrating 95 years of service to the Community. On May 8, 1918, the club was formed with 75 chartered members. Membership has increased and decreased over the years. Currently there are 53 members. The club still meets every Wednesday at 12:15pm at the Park Hills Country Club. The club provides services to American Cancer Society, Blair County Special Olympic, Blair Co. Home Run Against Drugs, Altoona Public Library, Altoona Little League, and the Envirothon. Buddy Club and Reading Buddies are two programs we offered in area schools to the students. Every year the club gives out five scholarshps in the amount of $500 each."
