"Estesa per oltre 600 ettari, situati alle spalle del Lido degli Estensi, la Salina di Comacchio conserva un impianto realizzato in epoca napoleonica e testimonia il ruolo rivestito fin dall'antichità di Comacchio nella produzione di sale.
La Salina di Comacchio è un’area particolarmente protetta del Parco del Delta del Po, suggestiva, complessa e delicata. Nonostante sia un ambiente artificiale, nato e realizzato dall’uomo per la produzione del sale, oggi, abbandonata l’attività produttiva ormai da 30 anni, è popolato da numerose specie di uccelli, alcune anche nidificanti e rare.
E’ uno scrigno prezioso, custode di testimonianze di un passato lontano e recente, dove ancora si percepisce la vastità delle valli, il duro lavoro dei salinari e dove ci si immerge in una natura che incanta.
La Salina è visitabile solo con l'accompagnamento di guide autorizzate, in giornate e orari prestabiliti o su prenotazione. Sono previsti eventi di animazione e iniziative aperte al pubblico." (

"The Comacchio Saltworks, one of the most interesting naturalistic areas of the Po delta Park for the fascinating flatness of its environment, interrupted only by the silent presence of the Casoni, the buildings in which the ancient salt extraction works were once based, is one of the most important birdwatching sites.
This roughly 7-km route offers an ideal tour for birdwatchers, hikers or cyclists to discover a very special place where water evaporates to extract the precious salt.
Covers an area of about 600 hectares and consists of a gentle succession of canals and earth passages that delimit the shallow basins with their high salt concentration, the perfect environment to allow a very large number of species to stop over and settle. The “jet set” here is represented by the large flocks of red flamingos.
Thanks to the very high concentration of salt in the water here, these birds are able to find plenty of brine shrimp (Artemia Salina), a pigmented microrganism that only survives in conditions offered by this type of oasis. It is their favourite food in fact; it gives them their characteristic pink colour." (

"Die Salinen sind eines der interessantesten Naturschutzgebiete des Regionalparks Po-Delta.
Sie befinden sich in den Lagunen südöstlich von Commacchio und sind über eine kleine Straße zu erreichen, die auf Höhe des Canale Logonovo zwischen Lido degli Estensi und Lido di Spina von der Staatstraße Romea abzweigt.
Das etwa 600 Ha große abgelegene Gebiet besteht aus Kanälen und schmalen Erdrücken, die ausgedehnte und sehr flache Wasserbecken umgeben.
Dazwischen erkennt man ein paar vereinzelte Häuser, die bei dem antiken Handwerk der Salzgewinnung als Stützpunkte dienten.
Das Wasser in den Becken weist einen sehr hohen Salzgehalt auf und bildet zusammen mit der weiteren Umgebung ein ideales Biotop für zahlreiche standorttreue wie migrierende Vogelarten.
Die interessantesten Vögel sind die Rosa Flamingos, die hier in großer Zahl vorkommen, da das Wasser enorm salzhaltig ist und reichlich von einem seltenen pigmenthaltigen Mikroorganismus namens Artemia Salina bietet, der eine bevorzugte Nahrung dieser graziösen Vögel ist und ihnen die charakteristische Farbe Rosa verleiht.
Die Saline kann nur auf Anfrage und in Begleitung von ökologisch geschulten Fremdenführern betreten werden.
