Canadian National Railway opened a ferry terminal here in 1967. Seasonal service largely targeted tourists from North Sydney, Nova Scotia. Now operating as Marine Atlantic, passenger and vehicle service is offered in June, July, August and September. The ferry crossings run up to three times a week. Crossings usually require sixteen hours to complete.
In 2021, there were no retail services provided in the terminal building. A vending machine is available.
