Ayr Lawn Bowling Club existed from 1895 until 2019. The club's membership dwindled in recent years, in 2003 giving the property to the township in exchange for a $1 per year lease. In 2011 the 23 member club considered moving to a new site but did not have funds to do so. In 2019, the club cancelled its membership in the Ontario Lawn Bowling Association and in November the Township of North Dumfries decided to not renew the lease for the remaining 4 members.
Thankfully the township is looking to preserve the clubhouse for future use and opening the former green to become public river access.
Today there are still lights till hanging which would have lit up the greens.
