"Why is it called the Methodist Church?
Methodists was actually a nickname for a bunch of students at the University of Oxford in England in the mid-1700s with John Wesley at the helm. Across a stiffened English state church, they methodically tried to live a Christian life in accordance with the Bible and their faith. The name has since been attached to the Methodist Church, which became a world church. It is the result of John Wesley's efforts to create a vibrant and socially committed church."
