DE: Über die Ortschaft: Die kleine Ortschaft Kalifornien befindet sich an der Ostsee in der Gemeinde Schönberg in Schleswig-Holstein. In Kalifornien leben heute um 420 Einwohner, der Name der um 1800 gegründeten Ortschaft geht auf einen Fischer zurück, der an seiner Hütte ein Wrackteil mit dem Namen des Schiffes "California" befestigte. Die Ortschaft ist heute zum großen Teil vom Tourismus abhängig, es existieren ein großer Campingplatz sowie viele Ferienwohnungen.
