The Santa Fe Depot (now a musuem) in Shawnee has many exhibits, including the cabin built by John Beard on his homestead claimed during the 1891 Land Run. Just north of the cabin is this fiberglass horse, "Old Dick," on which Beard rode during that historic event. The horse is painted to display Old Dick as he was (as opposed to some of the more fanciful fiberglass horses in Shawnee), with brown and white fur and black hooves.
