[FR] Le 18 Juin 1940, le général Charles de Gaulle prononce un discours à la radio de Londres, sur les ondes de la BBC. Ce texte est un appel à tous les militaires, ingénieurs ou ouvriers français spécialistes de l'armement qui se trouvent en territoire britannique à se mettre en rapport avec lui pour continuer le combat contre l'Allemagne et où il prédit la mondialisation de la guerre. Il constitue le premier acte de résistance de ce qui va être appelé la "France Libre".

En juin 2015, un mémorial fut érigé à proximité de l'Hôtel de Ville à l'occasion du 75ème anniversaire de l'Appel du 18 juin. Ce mémorial est constitué de 3 plaques en acier fixée à un mur :
- une plaque avec le texte de l'appel du 18 juin 1940,
- une plaque avec le portrait de de Gaulle en silhouette, et avec sa signature, et
- une plaque avec une citation de de Gaulle : "Les grandes choses se font par la valeur des hommes bien plus que par les textes."

[EN] On June 18, 1940, General Charles de Gaulle gave a speech on radio in London, on the airwaves of the BBC. This text is a call to all French soldiers, engineers or workers who are specialists in armaments who are in British territory to get in touch with him to continue the fight against Germany and where he predicts the globalization of war. It constitutes the first act of resistance of what will be called "Free France".

In June 2015, a memorial was erected near the Town Hall on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Appeal of June 18. This memorial is made up of 3 steel plaques attached to a wall:
- a plaque with the text of the appeal of June 18, 1940,
- a plaque with the portrait of de Gaulle in silhouette, and with his signature, and
- a plaque with a quote from de Gaulle: "Great things are done by the value of men much more than by texts."
