Saint John of Nepomuk (or John Nepomucene) [Czech: Jan Nepomucký; German: Johannes Nepomuk; Latin: Ioannes (or Ioannis) Nepomucenus (c. 1345 – March 20, 1393) is the saint of Bohemia (Czech Republic), who was drowned in the Vltava river at the behest of Wenceslaus, King of the Romans and King of Bohemia. Later accounts state that he was the confessor of the queen of Bohemia and he refused to divulge the secrets of the confessional. On the basis of this account, John of Nepomuk is considered the first martyr of the Seal of the Confessional, a patron against calumnies and, because of the manner of his death, a protector from floods and drowning.

Socha sv. Jana Nepomuckého stojí na podstavci z plochých kamenu, spojených maltou. Skulpturu tvorí sokl a vlastní socha svetce. Šestistenný sokl má složitý pudorys: prední a zadní stena jsou užší, mezi nimi jsou vždy dve steny širší. V dolní cásti soklu jsou všechny steny konkávní, pouze užší zadní konvexní. Prechod mezi stenami je zubovitý (tvorený dvema menšími zuby, jen u zadní steny je po jednom velkém zubu). Tak je pojednána širší podnož, oddelená vodorovnou spárou, i další úsek, který konvex-konkávne prechází v užší horejšek s oblou rímsickou. Následuje další cást soklu, jejíž steny jsou jen mírne oblé, témer rovné (zadní stena lehce vypouklá, ostatní nepatrne vybrané). Sokl je v tomto úseku zdoben melkými reliéfy s námety ze života sv. Jana Nepomuckého, na zadní stene soklu se pak nachází chronogram.
