City Hall is open from 9 AM to 1 PM and then 2 PM to 4 PM, Monday through Thursday, and on Friday from 9 AM to 1 PM only. They stay open an extra hour on Monday and Thursday.

The plaque on the building indicates that it was constructed in 2001, and the City began operations here in January of 2002. It's a modern building, nothing fancy. Per the City's website, this city hall houses the city offices, the council meeting rooms, the police department, and the water department (note the utility payment box in the parking lot). The volunteer fire department is just next door. In addition to the city leadership, they have a City Secretary and two utility workers. Currently, the City has but a single police officer who also serves as Chief of Police, on call 24/7. When City Hall is closed, citizens may call the Cooke County Sheriff's office, and they will dispatch the city officer or a deputy, depending upon the circumstances.

The City website provides a brief history, while something more thorough can be read in the Handbook of Texas Online:

"In 1887 the Missouri–Kansas–Texas Railroad constructed a line from Gainesville to Henrietta that passed through the site that would become Lindsay. The story of its founding closely resembles that of its neighbors along the railway such as Muenster. In 1891, Anton and August Flusche arranged for the transfer of 9,300 acres (38 km2) along the railway in order to found a new town, which they named after a local judge. They attracted several German Catholic settlers in the following years.

The date of Lindsay's founding is officially recognized as March 25, 1892, when the first mass was held; however, Lindsay was not formally incorporated until 1959.

The city has maintained some German traditions, including an annual Oktoberfest. As is typical in the region, the main industries are farming, principally dairy farming, and oil production."

Type: Main Office (HQ Building)

Visit Instructions:
To log a visit, you must post a photo of you in front of the building described, with your GPS in the photo. No drive by photos.

I have had NO problems with taking photos of Police stations but please respect the fact that some services may be nervous about having their photo taken and inquire as to why... I have found that once things are explained they are more than happy to let me photograph the building, crest, chief... (they are people too!)
