My honeymoon was in Jefferson, many years ago, and I am enjoying exploring the town on this beautiful morning. We stayed right here at the Excelsior House, in three different rooms. The guest book is at the southwest entrance in the hotel lobby. It look just the same as it did forty years ago...

Established in 1858, the Excelsior House is the oldest hotel in Texas. Famous guests have included Ulysses S. Grant, Oscar Wilde, Rutherford B.Hayes, Lady Bird Johnson, Steven Spielberg, Jay Gould (whose private railroad car is on display across the street) and this WM owner.
