Maison Girardin

Girardin House

Built in two phases between 1786 and 1807, in the heart of the village of Fargy, this house is representative of the rural dwellings built in the 17th and 18th centuries. Its style demonstrates the continuation of the architectural traditions of New France after the colony was ceded to Great Britain in 1763. Characteristic features include the steeply pitched gable roof, thick walls with irregular openings, chimneys set in the gable walls, and low foundations. The Girardin family owned the house from the time of its construction until 1925.
