O templo original foi edificado no século XIII por Dom Dinis, em honra de Santa Maria, sendo depois totalmente reconstruído na segunda metade do século XX. Apresenta uma planta longitudinal composta por uma nave, uma capela-mor mais estreita, uma sacristia e anexo adossados e uma torre sineira.
