Het beeld is gemaakt in opdracht van de drie gemeentes Brandwijk, Molenaarsgraaf en Ottoland ter herinnering aan de uitvoering van omvangrijke rioleringswerkzaamheden. De plaats van het monument is niet toevallig, omdat Vuilendam in alle drie gemeentes lag, het monument staat vlak bij het voormalige "drie-gemeentenpunt". Het beeld is onthuld op 24 september 1984 door minister J. de Koning en de drie burgemeesters. Vanaf 1986 vormen alle drie deze gemeenten onderdeel van de gemeente Graafstroom.

Het is een sculptuur van drie handen een twee gekruiste buizen vasthouden op een bakstenen voetstuk, waarop de wapens van de voormalige gemeenten Molenaarsgraaf, Brandwijk en Ottoland zijn aangebracht. Het beeld is gemaakt door Marcus Ravenswaaij.

The statue was commissioned by the three municipalities Brandwijk, Molenaarsgraaf and Ottoland to commemorate the implementation of extensive sewerage work. The location of the monument is not coincidental, because Vuilendam was located in all three municipalities, the monument is close to the former "three municipalities point". The statue was unveiled on September 24, 1984 by Minister J. de Koning and the three mayors. Since 1986, all three municipalities have been part of the municipality of Graafstroom.

It is a sculpture of three hands holding two crossed pipes on a brick base, on which the coats of arms of the former municipalities of Molenaarsgraaf, Brandwijk and Ottoland are affixed. The statue was made by Marcus Ravenswaaij.
