"On its two facades it has armory stones of the same composition: a shield on a cartouche of rolls quartered by a flordelised cross. In the barracks, the arms of Rodríguez de León, Avilés, Hevia and Estrada, and in escusón, those of Oviedo. Both shields are stamped with a tufted helmet, and the only difference is that the one on the main façade is supported by two lions as supports. These armories correspond to the sides of Pedro de León and Menéndez de Avilés, who was the one who had the palace built in the middle of the 17th century. This gentleman (maternal grandfather of the first Marquis of Ferrera) was in fact the son of Captain Pedro Alonso de León, alderman of Avilés and patron of the Hospital de San Juan, and of Mayor of Hevia, his wife; Paternal grandson of Simón de León de Quirós (a descendant of the Rodríguez de León family but with González de Oviedo varonia) and of María Alfonso de Arango, his second wife, who was the uterine sister of the advanced Pedro Menéndez de Avilés. And by maternal line, grandson of Diego de Hevia el Peco and Sancha de Estrada, owners of the Hevia de Villaviciosa house and lords of the Poreño preserve in the same council." ( visit link)
