The town of Arbroath is situated on the North Sea coast of Scotland in the county of Angus. It is known for its sea fishing activity, and it was in the vicinity of the harbour at North Grimsby that the town's fire station was originally located. These premises however were not fit for purpose and a new site was acquired which was opened in 1959.

The new station is situated on the south side of Ponderlaw Street, a few hundred yards to the east of the town centre, and was equipped with up to date appliances. On the day of the official opening of the station, the crew and its two appliances were called out three times.

The station has two fire trucks and a crew of local part-time firefighters.
