George Oscar Angerstein - Holbrook Cemetery - Holbrook, AZ - Homemade Tombstones on Waymarking.com

This small town cemetery is exceptionally well-maintained, and this is one of quite a few such markers that have been created either as a replacement for an original headstone, or where there was none. The main headstone is a piece of tile, and it is attached to what looks to be a slightly-larger piece of concrete, painted silver. It stands about three feet tall, and the inscription was incised by hand and filled in with black paint. Mr. Angerstein's name is at the top, followed by "1869~1939" and:

Born in Germany, he came to USA in 1886 at 17. Three years later, he moved to AZ to work as bookkeeper for A&B Shuster's, first in St. Johns, then to the Holbrook store in 1897. He then had that position for 50 years. He never married. His life shows the diversity and work ethic of the early citizens who built our town.
