The Al's Story
Al's Breakfast was started by Al Bergstrom in 1950 and is currently owned and operated by Doug Grina and Alison Kirwin.

Al's serves made-from-scratch breakfast fare at a 14 seat counter in the Dinkytown neighborhood of Minneapolis, Minnesota. We don't have a freezer, deep fryer, or microwave oven because we believe that meals taste best when they're made from real ingredients by people who care. That, and we don't have space for anything else. From the restaurant's web-site, (visit link)

Al's is located in Dinkytown, just north of the University of Minnesota at 413 14th Ave SE, Minneapolis, MN 55414. I have only eaten here twice and kept it simple both times; bacon, eggs and a short stack of large pancakes along with a cup of coffee.
On my first visit I waited about 15 - 20 for a spot to open at the counter. The second time was on a Tuesday morning and I sat right down at quarter to seven. There is one cook and one gridle. Orders are called out and fresh food hits the grill.

We're closed New Year's Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas.
