This site is an ideal spot to see migratory songbirds in spring and fall. The park has an elevated boardwalk through a hardwood hammock, where visitors may encounter Gray-cheeked Thrush, White-eyed Vireo, Northern Parula, Yellow-throated Warbler, Black-throated Blue Warbler and Indigo Bunting. Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, Gray Catbird, Ruby-crowned Kinglet and Orange-crowned Warbler spend the winter here. Check the small wetland, which may have Blue-winged Teal, Wood Stork, Tricolored Heron, Osprey and Sandhill Crane. The on-site Rotary Park Nature Center resembles a Florida Cracker-style schoolhouse and is open by appointment for groups. The center has many educational displays, hands-on activities, exhibits, programs and children’s classes. Tailor-made programs for youth and adult groups can be scheduled.
