The Smithfield A&W claims to be the longest-running carhop in Rhode Island. Its stand-alone building is on the west-bound side of Route 44 in the village of Greenville. This cash-only location is open seasonally.

A walk-up service counter is on the north side of the restaurant. Four picnic tables are sheltered in a covered patio on the west side. Signs posted on the restaurant instruct: "TURN LIGHTS ON FOR SERVICE" and staff will bring your meal right to your car. Speaking of cars, the property's large lot is host to weekly cruise nights on Tuesdays dating back to the mid-1990s.
