There's nothing to be found about this boy, and anything is speculation: Perhaps he was found somewhere and buried here. Perhaps he was buried here long before later settlers arrived, and found when the cemetery did work or created a grave. Perhaps his grave was found somewhere in town and he was re-interred here. Perhaps ...

This small town cemetery is exceptionally well-maintained, and this is one of quite a few such markers that have been created either as a replacement for an original headstone, or where there was none. The headstone is about three feet tall, a piece of tile attached to a stone that has been shaped. Near the bottom is a steel plaque reading "Holbrook Old West Cemetery". Multiple symbols complement "Navajo Indian Boy", including a storm cloud, crossed arrows, a desert tortoise, the Zuni sun face, a bird, and in the lower right, something that's hard to interpret, maybe a dog or another animal. The inscription was incised by hand and filled in with black paint, and it reads:

We do not know
his name or his age ...
where he lived ...
when or how he died

Honoring those who
forever remain
unknown
Burial Location: Holbrook Cemetery
