The name of the body of water is "Lake Ray Roberts", while the name of the park is Ray Roberts Lake State Park, both bearing the name of the Texas congressman who succeeded Sam Rayburn and who served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1962 to 1981. There are a few details about the Pecan Creek Unit here. (visit link)

As of this posting, there are no fees to use the ramp, but donations are accepted at the box in the parking lot, where oddly, they have all the paperwork available that you need in the other units in order to pay the prerequisite entry fees. It's probably a good idea during peak times to fill out the paperwork anyways and display it on your dashboard. State park pass holders can hang their placards from their rear-view mirrors while parked.

There are no posted hours, but the parking lot is lit after dusk. When in doubt, check with the folks over at the Isle du Bois or Johnson Branch Units, or call the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department at 940-686-2148. Otherwise, you may visit any day of the year, even on holidays.

There are two lanes with two small boarding piers which are clearly labeled that fishing there is a no-no: Save it for once you're away. Facilities are fairly primitive, with a single pit toilet off of the parking lot, which can handle up to 75 vehicles. While this really isn't a designated swimming beach, there are some clearings on either side of the ramp where you can get to the lake and have an interesting view of the bridge taking the highway over the water.

Please heed the signs that prompt you to clean, drain, and dry your boat: Zebra mussels have made it into the lake through carelessness and irresponsibility, and be aware that if "nobody's going to tell YOU what to do", the tax man always wins and will send a bill for the post-invasion cleanup. Give a hoot, don't pollute.
