The Dutch Monument Register reads:

"The Voorstersluis is a lock with a straight gully with a control building and a sliding beam shed at the upper head, and a movable road bridge across the lower head. The lock has straight, reinforced concrete gully walls, which are reinforced by vertical iron bars and have iron edges and standing wooden bollards.
Natural stone (granite) and brick were also used for the lock mouths. The lock gates (point doors) at the higher head are located between the lock keeper's house and the shot beam shed.

The difference in height between the lock chambers and the higher elevation control buildings and the bridge over the lock is bridged by steps made of concrete and granite. In addition to concrete, brick and granite were used for the lock gates in the lower abutment. The granite corner blocks at this lock mouth are rounded. The lock doors here are also attached to granite blocks.
The lock heads, the wharves and the bridge are equipped with fences composed of tubes. The road bridge over the lock chamber is a steel bascule bridge, which has an asphalted wooden bridge deck. At both lock heads, there are wooden fenders."
