"Joseph (Jos) Vissers (November 28, 1928 – April 18, 2006) was a Belgian boxer. In 1948 he won a silver medal at the Olympic Games in the lightweights (-60 kg). He lived in Turnhout all his life. He also won the European Championship in Dublin in 1947 and boxed until 1953. He was a trainer of the Geelse boxing club until shortly before his death."

"Ludovicus (Louis) Schoenmaekers (born 15 September 1931) is a Belgian former swimmer. His favorite stroke was breaststroke. He took part in the Olympics once, but was unable to make it to the final. He won four Belgian titles."

Michael Vaarten
"Michel Vaarten (Turnhout, January 17, 1957) is a Belgian pacesetter and former cyclist.

In 1976, as a 19-year-old, he won silver in the 1 km time trial of the Olympic Games in Montreal, after East German Klaus-Jürgen Grünke. It was the first Belgian medal at those Games.

He was a popular cyclist in the United States, where he rode and won many criteriums, and in Japan, where he competed in the local keirin circuit from 1981 to 1992, becoming the only foreigner invited to compete for 12 years. . In total he became 12x Belgian champion, 1x European champion and 1x world champion."
