DE: Nachdem die Nutzung des Luftschiffhafen-Geländes im Norden der dänischen Stadt Tønder durch das dänische Militär um 1975 endete, zog 1991 das Luftschiffmuseum in das zugehörige Gaswerk ein. 1999 kam noch das Garnisonsmuseum dazu und stellte Militärgeschichtliche Funde der in Tønder stationierten Truppen aus den Jahren 1864 bis 2002 aus. Zum Ende des Jahres 2002 gab das dänische Militär den Standort Tønder ganz auf und schenkte dem Garnisonsmuseum den Sherman-Panzer, ein Modell M4A3E4, der bis dahin auf dem Kasernengelände stand.

Am 7. September 2002 wurde der 32 Tonnen schwere Panzer in einer feierlichen Zeremonie unter der Leitung von Major S.P.Sørensen mit einem Kran an seinen Platz gestellt. Der Panzer hat die Seriennummer 57644 und wurde ursprünglich als ein Modell M4A3(105) im August 1944 von Chrysler gefertigt. In den Besitz des dänischen Militärs gelangte der Panzer mit den entsprechenden Umbauten nach Aufnahme Dänemarks in die NATO im Jahr 1949. Über die durchgeführten Einsätze konnte leider nichts herausgefunden werden.

Das Museum befindet sich in privater Hand eines Vereins, wird aber mit zu einem sehr kleinen Teil öffentlichen Mitteln unterstützt. Das Museum hat in den Monaten von Mai bis Oktober jeweils Samstags und Sonntags von 10 Uhr bis 15 Uhr geöffnet, der Eintritt für Erwachsene kostet etwa 10 Euro, für Kinder ab 8 Jahren kostet es etwa 5 Euro.

EN: After the use of the airship port area in the north of the Danish town of Tønder by the Danish military ended around 1975, the airship museum moved into the associated gas works in 1991.
