Our Lucky Bear, a large salmon clenched between his teeth, stands atop a stylized wood carving of an Inukshuk, alongside a miner panning for gold.

The Inukshuk is an ancient symbol of the Inuit culture and is traditionally used as a landmark and navigational aid and also represents northern hospitality and friendship.

In 2010, Kevin Geurtsen of Broken Limb Carvings, used local fir to create this iconic symbol of the Winter Olympics held in Vancouver. It took Geurtsen about a month to complete the carving

100 Mile House took part in the Olympic Torch Relay and it inspired the artist to create the Inukshuk. He also wanted to symbolize the North and the Cariboo with the miner panning for gold and the black bear.
