"Do you like contemporary art? Be sure to visit the Museum of Contemporary Art of Vigo , MARCO : it is the center with the most avant-garde art proposals in Vigo, located on the pedestrian street of Príncipe, one of the most popular shopping areas in Vigo .
At MARCO you can always enjoy temporary exhibitions dedicated to the most recent artistic production in different creative fields: plastic arts, architecture, video, online art, design, cinema, music, fashion, etc.
The MARCO building was designed in 1861 by José María Ortiz to house the prison and the Palace of Justice of Vigo, and the rehabilitation has preserved some of the most characteristic elements of the original building, such as that central circular space around which the rooms are articulated of exposure .
If you are interested in architecture, it is worth a visit to study the reconversion of its original "panoptic" structure, with a radial plan.
