The Town Hall used to stand at the junction of Central Avenue and Sittingbourne High Street where there is now a new building housing a branch of NatWest Bank. The clock sat high above the street in its own tower prior to the buildings demolition (see photos).

A bronze plaque, attached to the new clock tower, tells us:

This clock
originally sited on
the former Town Hall
in the High Street was
restored & erected here
by the people of Swale to
commemorate the wedding
of HRH the Prince of Wales
and Lady Diana Spencer
on July 29 1981

Original Location: N 51° 20.394 W 000° 44.157

How it was moved: Disassembled

Type of move: Inside City

Building Status: Public
