Taken from the website, "Completed in 2013, the John M. Roll U.S. Courthouse was constructed on the Colorado River on a donated parcel of land. The courthouse honors the late Chief District Judge for the District of Arizona, who served as a board member on the project’s source selection panel for the building’s design and strongly advocated for its location in Yuma. The courthouse houses two magistrate courtrooms, judges’ chambers, and jury facilities. It achieved LEED® Gold Certification by the U.S. Green Building Council in part for its dramatic solar canopy that supplies 25 percent of the building’s energy, use of locally sourced building materials, and water-saving features."
