In Nederland zijn er publieke en commerciële omroepen. Deze omroepen kunnen landelijk, regionaal of lokaal zijn. Elke omroep heeft zijn eigen taak of identiteit.
De meeste van deze omroepen bevinden zich op het Mediapark in Hilversum.

De publieke omroep (NPO) is dagelijks van waarde voor de Nederlandse samenleving. Met een veelkleurig programma-aanbod geven we invulling aan onze wettelijke taakopdracht, om een brede, voor iedereen toegankelijke publieke omroep te zijn. Dat doen we met publieke middelen en het is vanzelfsprekend dat we daar verantwoording over afleggen. Niet alleen omdat dat moet, maar vooral omdat we graag laten zien wat we teweegbrengen; bij ons publiek en in de maatschappij. Ons effect op Nederland maken we hier zichtbaar met cijfers en voorbeelden.

De Nederlandse Publieke Omroep (NPO) verzorgt de programma's op de publieke zenders. Zowel op de radio en televisie. Doel is programma's uitzenden die geschikt zijn voor alle groepen in de samenleving.

In the Netherlands there are public and commercial broadcasters. These broadcasters can be national, regional or local. Each broadcaster has its own task or identity.
Most of these broadcasters are located at the Media Park in Hilversum.

The public broadcaster (NPO) is of value to Dutch society on a daily basis. We fulfill our statutory task to be a broad public broadcaster that is accessible to everyone with a multi-coloured range of programmes. We do this with public funds and it goes without saying that we are accountable for this. Not only because we have to, but especially because we like to show what we bring about; with our audience and in society. We make our effect on the Netherlands visible here with figures and examples.

The Dutch Public Broadcasting (NPO) provides the programs on the public channels. Both on radio and television. The aim is to broadcast programs that are suitable for all groups in society.

Verder is NPO 1 de zender die we inzetten in het geval van calamiteiten. Wanneer er behoefte is aan een extra journaal voor bijvoorbeeld een ramp, dan zal dit plaatsvinden op NPO 1.
