There is no signage about the stove. From the display, it appears that this is a fired stove, with ash cleanout below the firebox, shovel hanging nearby, and a flue to carry the smoke outside. Many houses in the area were heated with coal, so the stove could probably burn either coal or wood. If it were in use, it would certainly be sooty.

This is part of a diplay of a kitchen in the early days of Altoona. The railroader's house had an icebox and a fired stove. It required much effort to keep and cook food. The house and kitchen are on the second floor of the museum.
