It is located in the upper part of the railway box of the Vigo-Urzáiz Station, forming part of the large stations of the Adif Vialia network , which implies that an important part of the enclosure is used for commercial purposes.
It has 93,634 m² of built area, 43,080 m² of gross leasable area , 1,200 parking spaces and 130 commercial premises.These dimensions make it currently the largest shopping center in the Province of Pontevedra, ahead of the Gran Vía Shopping Center -also located in the city of Vigo- and one of the largest in Galicia.
In its upper area there is a public square of approximately 23,000 m², in this space there are play areas for children , a stage for holding concerts and outdoor film screenings, dog parks, sports facilities, exercise areas and a viewpoint with views of the estuary . The decoration of its interiors and common areas is inspired by characteristic and iconic elements of the history of the Olívica city ; like the Movida Vigo, the canning industry, shipbuilding , the figure of Jules Verne or the Battle of Rande , among other topics.
The design of the complex is the authorship of the American architect Thom Mayne , winner of the Pritzker Prize in 2005, while the elaboration of the project was carried out by the architecture studios Morphosis Architects and L35 Arquitectos . The Spanish construction company Grupo San José was commissioned to build the infrastructure . In May 2021 at an event held at theDuques de Pastrana AuditoriuminMadrid, Vialia Vigo was awarded as the best urban regeneration initiative at the 18th edition of the ASPRIMA-SIMA Awards.
