Village of Oci and its chapel Santissima Annunziata d'Oci

Abandoned at the beginning of the XXth century, this high perched village offers by its situation a splendid view on all the coast from Calvi to Ile Rousse. 3 hiking trails lead to it, to discover the chapel, the ruins of the old houses, the fountain, and the threshing floor...

The chapel is in the middle of the ruined village of Occi.

Until 2000, only a few ruins remained, notably the south wall of the chapel. The chapel was completely restored in 2003 by the Occi association.

The east-west orientation is similar to the criteria of the first paleochristian chapels. The position of the choir with the altar located in the apse, facing east, while the nave connected them to the entrance installed at sunset, leads to an estimation close to the 5th or 6th century.

Repairs were made over time. The church was in danger of ruin in 1758: a transformation of the nave was carried out in order to consolidate the building, which will give rise to the small chapel. A date appears above the holy water font: 1760.
