The Haydenville Church and Society was formed in 1849. In 1850 construction of their Greek revival style church began. The church was designed by Richard Bond of Boston and completed in 1851. The steeple was lowered to it's present height of 110' in 1886.

The protruding symmetrical façade of the Haydenville Congregational Church is one bay wide with a single four part rectangular window with two by three panes. A set of steps leading up to a central entrance. The doorway is flanked by a pair of Ionic piasters. A second pair of Ionic piasters are at he ends of the building. Above is a triangular pediment. At the apex of the gable roof rises a square clock tower and a belfry with openings with rounded tops and balustraded railings. An irregular octagonal roof is topped with an octagonal cupola with short columns at each vertice and a weather vane.

The main block of the church is four bays wide with large four part rectangular window with two by four panes at each bay. The rear of the church has a breezeway leading to the church office building.
