This benchmark is located on 40 Line, near Amulree, Ontario. The large concrete marker was originally part of a network of benchmarks that were used as a reference for the wooden Triangulation Tower EASTHOPE-13307 that was constructed nearby. Many of these towers were built across southern Ontario.
The wooden tower here was destroyed in 1920, and this monument was moved to the current roadside location with a plaque explaining the history of the Triangulation Tower and how it worked.
