Emiliano da Costa was a Portuguese poet. He was born in Tavira on the 3rd December 1884 and died in Faro on the 1st January 1968.
He studied in Beja and then went to Medicine university in Coimbra, where he graduated in 1914. He established himself in Estoi, practising Medicine, and lived in the village until the end of his days.
Although it is not mentioned, the plaque is most likely placed on the house where the poet lived.

Ao poeta Emiliano da Costa no dia dos seus 80 anos 3 - XII - 1964"
