De rivier de Grecht vormde de belangrijkste verbinding met de rest van het land. De Zegveldse Schutsluis bood toegang voor de punters die Zegveld bevoorraden en reguleerde de waterstand. In de jaren na de ruilverkaveling (1958) werd Zegveld steeds beter via land bereikbaar. Wegen werden aangelegd en bedrijventerreinen werden een feit. De Grecht werd steeds minder gebruikt voor de handel en de sluis verloor haar functie als schutsluis. De Zegveldse Sluis heeft in 1991 de status ‘gemeentelijk monument’ gekregen.

The Grecht River was the main link with the rest of the country. The Zegveldse Schutsluis provided access for the punters who supply Zegveld and regulated the water level. In the years after the land consolidation (1958), Zegveld became increasingly accessible by land. Roads were built and industrial estates became a fact. The Grecht was used less and less for trade and the lock lost its function as a lock. The Zegveldse Sluis was given the status of 'municipal monument' in 1991.
