When six Dominican nuns arrived in the island in 1560 they needed a convent, as the only building of that kind was occupied by Franciscan sisters.
So the works started in 1567, on a plot donated by Maria de Arana. However, what we see on the spot today is the result of a reconstruction which took place between 1714 and 1722.
It can be visited from Monday to Saturday 9AM to 6PM but visits must be authorized by the resident nuns.
